Tom Brady and Jake Delhomme were the real stars of the Superbowl.

After the Great Game, it seemed no one wanted to even acknowledge the existence of the John Fox, Jake Delhomme and Carolina Panthers. At least not until Tom Brady took the mike and payed respects by saying they were the toughest team they had played.

As a Charlottean and a new fan of the Panthers...and now the Patriots as well, I appreciated his gentlemanly gesture, and want to return the praise. You are, sir, a fine quarterback and sportsman, one who embodies the spirit of the sport. And one who, even upon losing to you, I felt help orchestrate a most satisfying game.

Congratulations to the New England Patriots and the Carolina Panthers for a game well-played.
